My Firefox Home Page on iMac opens with another's Home Page. How do I get my Home page back?
When returning to my Firefox Home Page, an unknown Home Page appeared. I am unable to get out of this Home Page and back to my own Home Page. I use an iMac and with the latest software.
Also I have modest computer knowledge so any answers or solutions to this issue should be kept simple.
I have been unable to find an answer that fits my problem on the various Firefox FAQ's. There is a solution posted for Microsoft but not Mac or Linex users.
Any help would be appreciated.

As to how the homepage was changed;
It’s very sad, but many software downloaders/ installers will trick you into installing not only their program, but other programs as well.
You have heard of the fine print in shady contracts, right? Well, some installers you need to look at the itsy bitsy teeny weeny fine print.
You are thinking you are giving the installer permission to install the program you want by using the recommended option. But if you use the Manual Option Instead, you discover all kinds of stuff that you do not even know what it is or what it does.
From now on, everyone needs to Use The Manual Option to put a stop to this.
Note that these programs can also change browser/computer settings.
First, let's check your browser settings; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page
Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar. [v63+] Type about:preferences#home
There are two settings;
- When Firefox Starts
When the browser is started, what do you want to display. Many of us choose Show My Home Page.
- Home Page
When a new page is opened, what do you want to display.
# Use Current Page: Use whatever page(s) are open at that time. # Use Bookmark # Restore To Default: about:home shows a Mozilla home page with tools.
You can use any of these that you wish;
about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),
or you can enter any web page or about: page you want.
If there is no problem with the settings, then it could be an issue with a bad add-on, or ad/mal-ware.
Type about:support in the address bar and press Enter. Under the main banner, press the button; Copy Text To Clipboard.. Now in the Reply Box on the forum page, do a right-click in the box and select Paste.
