Are you having problems with your bookmarks also?

[v57+] Places Maintenance is built into Firefox.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

You will find Places Database near the bottom. Press the Verify Integrity button.

When done, copy and post the results here.

No issues with bookmarks.

Looks like a problem with the places.sqlite file. It stores your History and Bookmarks.

As you want to delete your browsing history anyway,

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

A new file will be created using a backup bookmarks file.

All right, I followed the steps and it deleted my history, all good there.

I decided to visit a random page and tried to delete it. It didn't work, should i delete all files with the name places.sqlite (shm/wal)?

Verified integrity again and this is the result:

Looks like something is blocking/using the file.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

Still not working out, really weird.

Oh well, I tried, I'm just going to reinstall firefox. Thanks for the help buddy I really appreciate it!
