Microsoft saving installation to: C:/Users/Elsie\AppData/Local\Temp\7zS8382763/UAC:803IE /NCRC (and NOT Program Files...) Result is BLANK page with no active links (this long digit file does not exist at that location)

Hi EPicker, please try downloading (saving) the "full" or "offline" installer from:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Can you download Firefox that way?

Thank you so much. This download does not "activate". Microsoft saves it to some weIrd place: c: Users/Elsie/AppData/Local/Temp\7zS.... A DEAD END! tHEY DO NOT PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE PLACE TO SAVE. At this time the "save" does not happen for one millisecond. Ealier I tried and succeeded for an hour or so by putting on an external hard drive, but when I stepped away from the computer Microsoft has changed all the files in those folders to Program KILLERS. But I do THANK you for your kindness to take the time to try to help. I am SO DETERMINED TO ESCAPE THE CLUTCHES OF MICROSOFT AND GOOGLE CHROME! unfortunately they may kill me first.

When does that Temp folder come into play. Is that after you save the installer file to your Downloads folder and then open/run it?

Note: If you are using an older browser that lets you "Run" a download, use the "Save" option instead, and then run the installer after you save it.

You might check the Windows Event Viewer logs to see whether there is an explanation of why the installer can't run. More info: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/226084-event-viewer-open-use-windows-7-a.html

YES. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. I THINK I've solved this by choosing Developers Edition, which I had to install just in C; (Microsoft forbade me accessing Programs Folder) So far it's working! I so wish I can keep it working until I can learn more by using it until I get to a place where I can make more stable choices. THANKS AGAIN, LC

To answer your question, Microsoft no longer asks ME where to download an executable--they give a destination for which there is NO recourse; in this case it was: C:\Users\Elsie\Appdata\Local\Temp\7zS838....(number not in this list anyway)..../NCRC . And what they placed there was nothing like installation files; they were "uninstall statements--not even "activating" just "markers". I will look at the "sevenforums". I do know that they are blocking internet access for files I did succeed in downloading which is why nothing moved--just deadland. Oh, well. I wish there could be an uprising to hold Microsoft accountable for the billions in hardware they've cause to be dumped in landfills due to their greed and unconscionable imposition of BAD and destructive rules and controls. THANKS for your good advices.
