I am using firefox as a browser for a private network that requires specific proxy settings, each time i open firefox it resets the proxy settings rendering me unable to use the network. When I change the settings I have to restart the browser to connect the the network, and boom, setting reset again. Any idea how to fix this issue? The specific setting is "Use this proxy server for all protocols" checkbox, it rechecks every time I reopen the browser, all other settings remain the same, including the exemption below, but that setting overrides exemptions making it impossible to connect to the network.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

This is about this pref:

  • network.proxy.share_proxy_settings

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that has effect.
