How to shrink my profile size
I've been a thunderbird user for a long time. Over the years I've watched thunderbird eat up more and more of my C drive. I searched online for solutions but never found one that worked for my needs/level of tech savvy. Hopefully this post can clear it up and be flagged in a way that may help others in a similar predicament.
I use Thunderbird on imap for 5 accounts between work and personal. Only 3 accounts are really "active". Each account averages 20-70 sent emails a week. Currently my profile size (according to WizTree) is 9.3GB.
I would like to keep copies of all sent messages.. at least going back the last 2-3 years. Sent messages with attachments... no need to keep the attachment if the file size is over 1MB. Nothing else special needed. I don't really save many emails into separate folders, they are usually just deleted.
I've already tried compacting folders... didn't change the profile size. Can I configure my settings to the parameters above? If so, there's text only emails from 2-3 years, of only 3 active accounts... that shouldn't be more than 1-3GB right?
Thank you for your help,
jamie

Do you use windows search to search your email, or Thunderbird
If the later turning off the support for windows search and manually deleting the files it created can save huge amounts of what I see as wasted space.
