Cannot remove deleted IMAP folder ("Mailbox does not exist")

1) I subscribe to one of my IMAP folders.

2) I remove this IMAP folder on my server.

3) I get this error "Mailbox does not exist". Because it obviously does not exist anymore.

4) I right click the folder and chose 'delete'. Same error: [NONEXISTENT] Mailbox does not exist"

This is probably because removing a folder also sends a command to the IMAP server to remove the folder there as well. This is kind of annoying. Now I have to recreate this subscription, unsubscribe in Thunderbird before I can remove this subscription on my server. And no, directy removing this folder in Thunderbird (instead of on my server) is not an option as I do other actions on my server as well.

Is this a bug or is this as intended?

Have you tried simply unsubscribing to the folder in Thunderbird?

Folders that do not exist do not show up in the subscription list.
