Tasks works short time only after uninstall/re-install Lightning. Becomes R/O then disappears.
Right now nothing is in my Today Pane. If I do Events and Tasks > Tasks, I get a tasks tab and see my tasks but not in the pane. The tasks are Read Only. I just removed Lightning and restarted. Re-added and restarted. Oops! I expected the Today Pane to work and to get my tasks RW but the pane is blank so now it's worse than usual. Tasks used to work fine. I don't know with which version of Thunderbird this started. I have Windows 10, latest version and a standard Dell desktop of recent vintage.

did you use the gdata provider and it has become disabled following an update perhaps?
The Provider provides calendar support too which is fine. But I am going to disable it and re-enable right now. That worked! Let's see if it holds. Thanks.
I also have this problem. I tried disabling the Google Calendar Provider then re-enabling it and that did not fix the issue. I tried removing both the Google Calendar Provider and the Lightning Add-ons then adding them back, but that did not fix it. After that I had to reconnect the Calendar to my Google account, but that makes sense to me. The tasks are still there because they show up on the Today Pane and I still get reminders, but they do not show up on the Tasks tab and the ways to view them are limited on the Today Pane.
I lost the funtion calendar and task in Thurderbird. After updating the Thurderbird, i still found my task. But when i updated the Window 10 the i can not find the calendar and my task any more buttons are gone.
i send the picture of my problem: do not find the task convert
