Firefox EDIT (tags) feature no longer works. Please <b>HELP</b>
When I want to EDIT my submission to any website, the Firefox's EDIT feature doesn't work. Can you restore the Edit Feature?
Chosen solution
The extension author posted an update overnight. If your Firefox hasn't installed it yet, you can trigger an updating using this method:
Open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return
Above the list on the right, click the "gear" button and choose Check for Updates.
Is yours working again?

I am going back to Firefox 73.0.1 where the EDIT (tags) feature does work.
Hi ronfraz, when you get a minute, could you describe this in more detail? Are you referring to a link or button provided by the website to edit your submission, or a feature of Firefox's developer tools?
Also, what is different between Firefox 73 and 74?
Is there a good place to see this in action?
Firefox has an EDIT tab (Ctrl+Shift+Y). This no longer works. When I am trying to post on various blogs, I am unable to EDIT my posts under "tabs" add a URL under a phrase or BOLD print or underline. Before firefox 74, this always functioned, but with Firefox 74, it no longer functions. I want this FIREFOX EDIT restored.
Scratchpad?
Hi ronfraz, I can't find that shortcut on the list of built-in shortcuts: Keyboard shortcuts - Perform common Firefox tasks quickly.
Is it possible one of your add-ons adds that shortcut? Perhaps you can review the extension keyboard shortcut list and identify it that way. Open the Add-ons page using either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
- type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return
Above the list, look for a "gear" icon, click that to drop a menu, and click the last item, "Manage Extension Shortcuts".
Unfortunately, you can't search on this page, but there usually aren't too many. Can you find Ctrl+Shift+Y associated with any of the active extensions?

Just try Ctrl+Shift+Y and you will find the EDIT tab.
Ctrl+Shift+Y brings up a SIDEBAR which includes EDIT.

That keyboard shortcut does nothing for me. Are you on Wordpress.com or Blogger.com or some other blogging site?
Does the editing tab open in Firefox's sidebar? If so, what does the sidebar header say? Mine has these headings:
- Bookmarks
- History
- Synced Tabs
My sidebar opens with those three heading AND EDIT Ctrl+Shift+Y. With previous versions of Firefox I used this all the time. Now with Firefox 74, the Edit heading is still these but does no longer work.
Okay, can you check the extension shortcuts page I mentioned and see whether you can identify the full name of the extension triggered by that keyboard shortcut? Thanks.
The full name is EDIT.

This one, it seems:

The Find and Replace works for me, but the formatting buttons (Tags section) do not work for me. I don't see any obvious explanation for the problem.
I opened an issue on the developer's support site:
THAT is precisely the problem: the tags section no longer works whereas it has worked for all the previous versions of Firefox, but not with Firefox 74. You finally see the problem. BRAVO.
Browser Console:
- action.toSource is not a function sidebar.js:155

Can you fix this problem for Firefox 74? Otherwise I will have to go back to Firefox 73.0.1 to have this essential (for me) extension.

Thanks for uncovering that.
Changing line 155 from
const processFormat = (Array.isArray(action) ? 'text => ' : '') + action.toSource();
to
const processFormat = (Array.isArray(action) ? 'text => ' + JSON.stringify(action) : action.toString() );
seems to fix it. But this isn't convenient for an end-user to change, the developer will need to do it.

Hopefully a developer will fix this soon....

It appears to have been fixed. I can now use "EDIT" to edit my texts on various blogs. Thanks.
