How to retrieve erased bookmarks?
My Mac had to be reinstalled. Everything has been erased. I have not saved my bookmarks elsewhere. Is there any hope of retrieving those Firefox bookmarks?
Chosen solution
If you were using Sync before and haven't reset the Firefox Account password then you might be able to retrieve the bookmarks. Otherwise you would need a backup, either a JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder in the profile folder that Firefox creates automatically or an HTML backup that you have created yourself or a backup copy of places.sqlite. If you do not have either then your bookmarks are likely lost.

Hi there...........
Open Mozilla Firefox and click the Firefox menu button, select Bookmarks >> Show All Bookmarks.
If you accidentally deleted bookmarks, you can recover them by clicking on Organize button and select Undo or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Z.
If you didn’t know, the groovy thing about Firefox is it automatically creates backup of your bookmarks regularly. If you deleted any bookmark few days back, you can restore them. Click on Import and Backup and select Restore. It will show you all the backups created. Select the bookmark file you want.
Thank you very much. It would be helpful - but I have also erased Firefox: the whole system and all data were erased (there was a virus that could not be removed otherwise). If I install a new Firefox, and I did it, it does not show the previous bookmarks - at least I could not find them.
Am I right then: if I install a new Firefox that is of no help since the previous Firefox bookmarks must have been erased? Aleksandar
Do you still have Time Machine backups or are those gone as well?
Time Machine was not on. I had all data (but I think not bookmarks) saved via Backblaze - this is why I did not think of bookmarks. Thank you Aleksandar
Hello
I have formated my computer and did not saved my bookmarks. Is there any chance to retreive it from firefox servers or firefox sync?
Thanks

Thank you very much. I have found the bookmarksbacks folder in the Library saved by Blackblaze. This solves my problem.
While setting up my computer for my daughter, I deleted 4 folders in my bookmarks that she wouldn't use. Luckily, I had 2 computers next to each other. And before I deleted, even more, I noticed that the 4 folders had been deleted on the other PC as well.

Where is the Organize button? I can't find it.

Import? Backup? Restore? Can't find them. Maybe I should go back to pencil and paper. (:
Thank you, The Village Idiot
Hi,
When you open Firefox browser and use the ctrl + shift + B keyboard shortcut, a library box will open. Select the organize and click on the undo button (ctrl + Z) to manually delete bookmarks.
If you were to manually delete bookmarks a few days ago, When you use the keyboard shortcut ctrl + shift + B, select Import and Backup in the Library box. Then click on the restore and you will get the deleted bookmarks.
Hi Jimmie
What operating system are you using ?
The thread creator is using Mac OS X 10_14_6 If you use a different OS (Windows) then best is to create a new thread to avoid confusion and prevent the OP from getting unnecessary emails.
Note that on Mac you only see icons on the toolbar in the Library (Bookmarks manager) and shortcuts are different as well (Undo: Command+Z instead of Ctrl+Z).
hansigaya99 Thanks, That worked well!
