Is there a way to remove the close button when i only have a single tab open? I constantly click the close button whenever i have a single tab open when i mean to click the new tab button. I dont see the reason why there should be two close buttons (one on the tab, and one on the upper right of the window)

You can possibly set this pref to false on the about:config page to prevent closing window when you close the last tab.

  • browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab = false

Add code to the userChrome.css file below the default @namespace line.

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

tab:only-of-type .tab-close-button {display:none !important}

In Firefox 69 and later you need to set this pref to true on the about:config page to enable userChrome.css and userContent.css in the chrome folder.

  • toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets = true
