Run as Administrator Prompting to Make Changes to Computer - Found a Solution to Disable

more options

Like many folks, I have somehow toggled 'Run as Administrator' and then become frustrated as Firefox asks every single time a tab or page opens if I want 'to allow Firefox to make changes to your computer'. Frustrating.

I've seen several answers to go to the 'Compatibility' tab and uncheck 'Run as Administrator' - but that did not seem to be solving the problem. I know it didn't for me!

It seems there is ANOTHER place to deactivate 'Run as Administrator'...and it supersedes the Compatibility input.

Firefox Properties => Shortcut => Advanced. Uncheck 'Run as Administrator'. The problem was solved for me, hope it works for you, too!

I would assume that there is still some shortcut present that sets Firefox to run as administrator. If you can't find this then uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Make sure that the Firefox program folder is removed after uninstalling. You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (62.0.3) in all languages and all operating systems here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/62.0.3/releasenotes/

I set Firefox to "Run as Administrator" and now I can't change it. What do you mean? If you right-clicked Firefox and chose Run As Administrator, that's a one-time action that ends as soon as you exit Firefox. If you set the Firefox shortcut to Run as Administrator, Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties. If Firefox is pinned to the taskbar, you have to right-click the taskbar icon, then right-click the Firefox icon in the menu that pops up, then choose Properties. On the Shortcut tab, click the Advanced button. Uncheck "Run as administrator", then click the OK button. Click the OK button. Note that there's no reason to run Firefox as administrator. If you're prompted for administrator privileges, then either something is wrong, or you've uninstalled or disabled the Mozilla Maintenance service and Firefox needs to perform an update. What is the Mozilla Maintenance Service?
