New feature that's more like a bug

Thunderbird seems to have acquired a new "feature" whereby it somehow recognises a date/time in an incoming email as being about a scheduled meeting and brings up the attached This message contains an invitation to a meeting notification, with choices limited to Accept/Tentative/Decline.

Except that there is NO meeting - the email in question is a notification from my ISP of upcoming maintenance on their broadband network that will affect my service. I receive these every couple of weeks, but none have ever triggered this message before.

This new feature is a useless annoyance in its present sloppy implementation, but there is no obvious way to turn it off. Is this possible?

Chosen solution

Are you sure the sender hasn't sent the notification as an 'invitation' to this 'meeting' so you can add the scheduled maintenance to your calendar? That would make sense, even if they are forced to adopt the language of events or meetings.

Can you tell us what OS are you using and what version of Thunderbird?

Did this occur since the last update to the version you are using now?

Do you use only the Lightning calendar or have you added another eg: google?
