I get the message that "there is not enough space in disk to download new messages", however I have a LOT of free space in my disks. How can I configure more space for Thunderbird to use for download and store emails? I tried to look but I can't find the option.

using MAC OS 10.15.5 and Thunderbird 68.10.0 Thanks!

I doubt if it is your computer's disk space that is the issue here. It is your email provider's server, where your mailbox is hosted, that is alerting you of insufficient space to receive new messages. Who is your email provider? Log in to your account's management portal via a browser and check your space usage.
