Auto-clear cookie exceptions

Under options, privacy and security, History: Use custom settings for history, and finally, Settings for "Clear history when Firefox closes"- I would like to politely request an exceptions feature to this auto-clear setting.

I use Lastpass frequently, and up until now, I delete *everything* under this History setting when firefox closes. I've done this for years, but I'm growing very tired of logging into Lastpass with every browser close/reopen. And this auto-clear feature also wipes the local file necessary for account recovery if 2FA isn't possible for whatever reason (I've had this happen when a phone broke and I couldn't get to google auth).

I just want to be able to get rid of everything on browser exit, except for anything Lastpass related. Is this possible to create instead of employing an extension?

Hi jpeisenhau21, I think of LastPass as an add-on, but your question gives me the sense that their website is a critical element of the process:

And this auto-clear feature also wipes the local file necessary for account recovery if 2FA isn't possible for whatever reason (I've had this happen when a phone broke and I couldn't get to google auth).

Do you mean when you connect to the LastPass site (either directly in a tab or through the extension), it needs a cookie that it set previously so you don't need to re-do your 2FA? Okay.

Managing Cookies and Site Data

If you want to keep some cookies and site data at shutdown, then this configuration works best. On the Options page, Privacy & Security panel:

Cookies and Site Data section

[x] Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed

"Manage Permissions" button -- make Allow exceptions for sites that you want to be able to save persistent data (this also is needed for sites like Outlook Web App that pass data between windows using local storage)

History section

Either do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or in the Settings dialog, uncheck these boxes:

These two are handled by the earlier setting:

[_] Cookies [_] Offline Website Data

This one refers to the custom permissions you set:

[_] Site Preferences
