Today I got an email from someone and answered it. I wanted to go back and read it again and I couldn't find it. It was not in my inbox. I have it set up to keep my replies in a thread in the inbox. My reply wasn't there either.

I had to do the big global search (through all the email accounts) and that was able to find the messages. however, it says they are in the Inbox, and they are not. when I click on "show in containing folder" it goes to the inbox but it's not there.

When I view the same account on my android phone (with AquaMail) the messages are right there in the inbox like they should be. I notice other messages are missing too, they are there on my phone/aquamail and not on my desktop/thunderbird. the curious thing is that thunderbird can find them in the global search not from inside the folder where they actually are. There are now several of these emails from today, that are there on the webserver but not showing up on my Desktop Thunderbird (yes It is set up for imap).

any ideas? this is scary that some of my emails are just disappearing.

thanks. gary in vermont

Chosen solution

Another possibility... Have you accidentally set up a thread to be ignored ? It could have happened if you had that original email selected and you pressed the shortcut key 'K'. This could explain why the original and your reply cannot be seen. View > Threads > Ignored

Check setting: View > Threads > select 'All'

Check no filter is operating on the Quick Filter Bar. None of the icons should be highlighted and that includes the 'Pin' icon.
