I agree with this other person & say: I HATE YOU FIREFOX FOR *expletive* UP MY BROWSER WITH A REFRESH SUGGESTION
i Totally agree with this now closed post: I just returned to Firefox due to high level hacker threats & identity theft basically I'm still battling,so I have to have all Social Media in Containers from now on & can't use other browsers w/o containers, so I get it all setup & had my sync on & the containers start acting up, so I see a suggestion to just simply refresh it, oh yea, that solves most problems, NO IT CAUSES MORE THAN IT SOLVES! Now my Lastpass pw mgr, can't get clipboard permission cause the page just comes up blank, when I try to copy/paste a pw, to sign into sync even, I had to past from outside using another browser & don't have containers on it, Brave should catch up to this, cause Chrome, clearly doesn't have containers, so I'm done using it & now w/o Firefox working right I'm screwed, it's so aggravating, Just when I thought firefox was doing good again, nope, you're back on my shitlist. I'm pissed just like this guy! I got my bookmarks & think I got the sync working but you shouldn't suggest refresh to fix issues, now how do I get my lastpass working? cause I have pop up blockers disabled & the permission page for firefox won't come up, just a blank page every time I try to copy a pw to paste in, manually, ugh, I hate this!

So I thought I'd just delete it and start over but even that has so many steps I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS STUPID CRAP AND I REALLY HATE FIREFOX FOR SCREWING UP MY COMPUTER AND MY DAY
I AM SOOOOOOOO SCREWED - all my bookmarks I HATE YOU I HATE FIREFOX I CAME TO YOUR SITE THINKING IT WOULD BE SAFE AND YOU HAVE DESTROYED EVERYTHING

I understand that you're frustrated, but it only takes a couple minutes to copy the files. Take it step by step. Do not delete anything, that will only make it worse. Do not use Windows' system restore feature, that may make it totally irreversible.
In another thread (https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1098179) you said the steps I posted were not clear. Where did you run into problems? Read this answer in context

Take a breath, we're going to revive your old profile so you can work out its specific issues without the shortcut of starting from scratch. Here's how.
First, on your Windows desktop, find the Old Firefox Data folder. This will be the source folder in this operation. If you have more than one folder inside Old Firefox Data, identify the newest one. You can check their bookmarkbackup folders because the creation data is coded into the file names.
And now:
(1) Drop a copy of the old profile folder back into the folder Firefox uses for profiles:
Let's say your old folder is: abcd1234.default-release
Set Windows to show hidden files and folders: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-show-hidden-files
Open the following folder using either step-by-navigation, or by pasting a shortcut in the Windows 8.1 system search box and pressing Enter to launch it:
- C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
- Shortcut: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
In Old Firefox Data, right-click the profile folder (abcd1234.default-release or whatever) and choose Copy. Important: copy the folder because you need to transfer the folder. This is not a method where you copy individual files.
In the C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles folder, right-click an empty area and choose Paste to paste the folder here.
(2) Configure Firefox to use the old profile
Make a note of the text after the dot on the profile folder. In this example, it's default-release. You need the new profile name to match the old one in order for Firefox to regain use of your extensions and their data.
Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.
- Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next.
- Assign the old profile name default-release (or whatever yours is) and Firefox should show a proposed folder name with a new random part.
- Click the "Choose Folder..." button and select the old profile folder you copy/pasted so that Firefox picks up the full old name.
- Back in Firefox, click the Done button.
After creating a new profile, Firefox usually makes it your default profile (for external links and the next startup). To test, scroll down to it and click the Launch profile in new browser button.
Did it work?
If so, you're done.
If not, you can close that window without affecting your regular Firefox profile and change back to the profile you started with before this post. Click the Set as Default Profile button below your preferred profile.
I don't have time for all this crap now, I'll do another time I'm busy getting rich to buy my own tech companies, all of them & change them for the better, I'll hire people to do this for me, I'm under high level hacker threat & this caused me massive migraine & I'm not going through all those steps, I disabled all my add-ons by hand & then got lastpass to work by only allowing it,then 1 by 1 allowing the containers so for now, it's fine, I'm still pissed, but I'm over it, note to self & others refreshing is NOT just a simple fix, I thought,oh clear cache or whatever,no big deal, not reset all add-ons & sync & all that, so it was a pain in the neck & the fact you gotta go through all this to fix it, proves that to me. I'm dealing with 8 billion other things it's 2020 & ain't nobody got time fo' dat' The major issue w/the add-ons enabled, was competely breaking the browser, open a page & it would open it infinitely in new tabs, idk wtf was doing it, so I disabled everything & started only certain add-ons 1 by 1, that I knew would work together. So far so good, I find my own solutions...but make the community aware, beware, a refresh of this refresh post, cause I see I wasn't the only pissed off firefoxer' & I was coming back to firefox after a long hiatus in Chrome, which is now crap too, seems no browser can stand the test of time, I'm not a Brave fan either, no containers & it crashes just as often as Chrome, so ugh, can't win here...
