I just received a notification that Thunderbird independently deleted a number of drafts in one of my email accounts without my knowledge or authorization. This was also logged in the "Activity Manager." I could not find any settings concerning such an activity. Why did this happen, and how can it be stopped, since I obviously do not want to delete any of my drafts.

Do you have autosave enabled in Options/Composition? That stores unfinished messages in Drafts, and they should be deleted automatically when the message is sent, not messages saved manually as drafts. Drafts folder performance is usually better if the folder is stored in Local Folders, instead of an IMAP folder.
