Hello

Before making a PC factory reset, I made a copy/backup of the Firefox profile I had. I have simply made a copy-paste of the folder.

Now I am hoping to apply it in a virtual machine, so I have 2 profiles, one on my host after reset, and the previous one on the VM which is before the reset.

So, in the VM I installed FF, and I copy-pasted the old profile inside the new FF profile folder..but just nothing happens.

At least I want it to read my bookmarks and extensions, but it is supposed to read or access it completely. What am I missing here ?

Chosen solution

A profile needs to be registered in profiles.ini to make it possible for Firefox to find and it, merely pasting a full folder doesn't work. Also make sure you have restored the profile location in "AppData\Roaming" as that is where the main profile is located. The secondary location in "AppData\Local" is used for temporary files like the disk cache.

You can use the Choose folder button in the profile manager to register a profile, see "Profile was moved or renamed":
