I Cannot Deleted Emails from TB. I use POP3 mailboxes and have 3 accounts combined into a master account. TB and WIn10 updated on the same day and since then I have not been able to deleted messages. I have tried the suggested method, Open Mail in my profile and delete the trash files, restart TB. When I try to add a new folder "Trash" it comes back with "A folder with this name already exists" and my "Deleted" folders still exist. If I immeadiatley go back into my profile I have "Trash" files in one of my accounts but not the others. The trash folder and files have also reapeared in the "smart mailboxes" folder Is there any solution to this or am I giong to have to uninstall TB and re install it.?? If I do have to unintall can this be done while retaining my emails and settings? Hope someone can help

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I have tried this method several tmes and it does not work for me. I suspect that I will have to re-install TB.

Hello there Rogers.

Try to delete trash.sbd and restart again? Search for these file having similar text format s. Delete them to please. And restart Thunderbird.

If you want to install a new fresh installation of Thunderbird. That s oke to.

https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/releases/ Also then delete every profile of Thunderbird before installation.

Try to start up in safe modus after trying to recover by deleting this files. Check if the problems you’ve got still there?

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunatley none of them have made any difference.

I have been looking further into the problem frrom my end and have made the following observations. 1: I cannot delete messages unless I use <shift> 2: My wife, who uses the same pc but with her own log in and email accounts, can delete messages without any problem 3: When I am logged into TB it regularly returns "TB is no longer responding" and I have to restart it. 4: My wife does not have this problem.

This probably does not help you and makes the problem more complicated but I thought you should have all the info.

If nescessary can I remove my profiles without disturbing those of my wife?

Sorry for being a pain but I am new to TB having only used Outlook for many years.

Any suggestions will be appreciated

Roger C.
