My old HD crashed and I have had to buy a new machine. Can I access a history of the downloads (PDFs particularly) that I made on my old machine. This newly installed version of Firefox does not have them anywhere that I can see. I need them for research for university essays.

It is unclear to us how what exactly crashed on your old machine.

But you may be able to plug the old hard drive into the new system and transfer files from it.

I mean, just because the operating system may have become corrupted, it does not mean that the file system did as well.

Note that you need places.sqlite from the old hard drive to have access to the downloads.

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder.

Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).

  • ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<profile>

In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the "~/Library" folder in the Home directory is a hidden folder.
