I had a system crash under win 10; but could save the thunderbird (version 78.10.2) profile data; after reinstallation the logins.json.corrupt is unfortunately marked and I have an empty password manager. how can i recover the password file. Many Thanks

Chosen solution

srry for late reply; after all possible attempts to restore the login.json and passwords, and also after the fact that thunderbird did not remember any new passwords, I installed a new profile and restored the old mails and folders via the file structure.

Thunderbird usually creates a new logins.json file. When you start Thunderbird it should ask for password as it attempts to access server. Enter password and select the checkbox to remember password before clicking on OK.

Does that work ?
