So basically I turned off everything that has to do with restoring after crashes, os restarts etc. in normal settings as well as in about:config, but it keeps restoring my session after I restart my machine. The weird thing is also that it work on Windows but I this issue only appears on Linux. I am not sure about the Mac OS tho.

Do you leave Firefox running and let the OS close Firefox when you shutdown the computer as that can make Firefox to resume the session.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox Title bar.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit
