I copied a Local folder tree by drag and drop to my IMAP server. The folders were created perfectly, but all messages in the subfolders were left out. How can I copy a nested folder tree with messages included? (using TB91.2.1 Portable in Win7, size of the transfer ca. 2.9 GB)

I would suggest you do not, it will fail in random ways due to timeouts and you exceeding the providers daily data allowance is the normal issue but there are a host of potential issues.

Despite blogs suggesting otherwise, Thunderbird is not a good choice for copying your mail from account to account. One folder at a time may actually be more than the transfer can cope with. I generally recommend no more than 500 emails at a time and that without anti virus scanning the connection or the mail.
