How do I stop this from happening.

I don't want the system to delete my history. Even if I keep it very small, eventually, the bookmark list will show up in history and my history will disappear.

How do I stop the bookmarks from doing this. I manage my history I don't want it deleted at all unless I choose to do it.

Adding pages to it in the about:config DOES NOT help.

How do I stop bookmarks from eating up my history list.

Is there a way to set just "history" back to default without messing up anything else?

Please help.

I'm not sure what is happening.

What do you mean with "the bookmark list will show up in history and my history will disappear" ?

If you visit a bookmark then this bookmark will show up as visited history, so that is quite normal.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Browsing History
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
