I had an automatic update for Thunderbird on 20 Dec. I cannot open the program now. I get an 

          Error; Platform version 9.4.0 not compatible with 91.4.0

What can I do? The troubleshooter says incompatible. Many thanks Frederica.bull@btinternet.com

Can you provide the full+exact error, maybe with filename and line number, or a screenshot of the error?

Also, try reinstalling by downloading from https://www.thunderbird.net/
