How to lock a tab so the URL never changes?
Hi,
I used Tab Mix Plus in the past and it had the protect tab option. I have several tabs that I want to keep always open and never change, just reload the content keeping the same url, all the links should be opened in a new tab/window. Pinned tabs only keep the tab pinned but do not enforce this. Is there a way to do this natively?
Thanks

I think you'll need an add-on because... What did Tab Mix Plus do when you tried to navigate to a new URL? For example:
(A) Open it in a new tab instead (B) Cancel the navigation without comment (C) Something else
it's been a few years since I stopped using it, but from what I recall it opened the url in a new tab and keep the original unchanged.
I found two extensions along those lines by the same author but have not tested either of them:
- Older design: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/tabloc/
- Newer design: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/lock-tab-page/
They both sound a little complicated.
I found those too, jscher2000, I was hopping for something with verified/recommended/by firefox badge. Or at least if find if more people would like that option, so it may be integrated native in Firefox.
Firefox is so unreliable now when it comes to restoring sessions that I would bookmark the tabs in a separate folder and backup your bookmarks.

Sorry you have that experience, but note that it is not relevant to this thread.

There are a lot of Recommended extensions now, but the review process has been going slower in recent months (due to reduced staffing?), so I'm not sure any more will be added in the near future until turnaround times improve.
There is a more general (more widely used) extension to force all links to open in a new tab. Maybe that could help if it's not too annoying in other tabs? https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-link-with-new-tab/ Note that you set whether ALL links in a page open in a new tab, or only links to different sites (i.e., links to the same site can stay in the same tab).
