Hi, I changed my GMail password and now Thunderbird will not work for Gmail. I get to a cut-down browser with my Google account username populated in but when I hit NEXT button the username field is now blank. Same issue every time I try to re-type the username. What do I do now as I don't want to use a less secure access method in GMail. I tried also deleting the Gmail account but I have the same issue and cannot now re-add the account into Thunderbird Help! Please!

Chosen solution

Sounds ike you were trying to create the account as an imap mail account using Authentication Method OAuth2.

Please check to see if cookies are allowed.

  • Menu app icon > Preferences > Privacy & Security
  • Select 'Accept cookies from sites'

Restart Thunderbird.

Then create the gmail account - make sure you choose the checkbox to remember password - set up as imap mail account using Authentication Method OAuth2 - Thunderbird should do this automatically. Then you will get that prompt -cut-down browser login - to allow Thunderbird access.
