Greetings, I'm attempting a pop3 connection with gmail using Thunderbird - newest I assume because I just downloaded it today. I get as far as logging into Gmail in the smaller window that pops up and then I "Allow." That window closes and goes back to what you'll see in the screen grab. I have verified that the password is correct by logging into Gmail using a browser I rarely use.

Can someone please look at my screen grab of the settings window and help me out?

Thank you!

Steve

Thank you arandor,

I'm using Thunderbird 91.10.0. It's still not connecting all the way but I think I'm one step closer after you telling me the port number that works for you.

I'll try an other GMail account and see if I can zoom in on the problem further.

Much appreciated!

Steve

**Update**

I tried my secondary gmail account and same exact dance.

I did have Thunderbird installed back in 2014 and used it for News Groups. But stopped using it and uninstalled it a few yrs later. Reason I remember is that this new install found all of my old news group messages.

So, I'm going to look for a way to totally scrub the original 2014 install along with this new one and start over, or try it from a different OS where I know Thunderbird has never been installed.

I'll report back.

Steve

** Success**

My old profile at: C:\Users\ < USERFNAME > \AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird was the problem.

I deleted that folder and it's working now. Thanks again arandor for the correct port number. The incorrect one for SMPT I actually found at a google support page.

I'm using Thunderbird 91 with the same settings you have except I have the SMTP port set to the default 465. Other than that, our settings are identical. They are working for me.
