A new update of Mozilla offered me this new option. New page called: Private window: Firefox clears your search and browsing history ..." However, I opened it on the task bar and used it as my browser window and it has deleted ALL my sign in's that I leave signed in to the site. How do I get rid of this page all together? I have it on my task bar, I don't want to use it. I didn't see it in Programs in the Control panel so how do I delete this feature of Mozilla's? The window I want to delete says : "Private window: Firefox clears your search and browsing history when you close all private windows. This doesn’t make you anonymous."

Did you verify there wasn't a firefox running at the "taskbar notification area" if one is running nothing will get deleted or closed. You have to create a firefox icon in the taskbar icon location or if you left click the icon you will get a menu run option. I has two icon it creates the "standard" and "private mode" windows version. So not sure how your opening and closing either browser to know what's happening. I know that with private mode nothing is saved and cleared unlike the standard Browser mode.

Look at my taskbar setting did you not get this showing?

When I left click on the icon that is in the tool bar, I get as you show except the option saying "Firefox" is not there. I got this when I did a refresh of the Mozilla program because things were so slow and all, i was going to uninstall and reinstall, but it offered me to "refresh" instead so I did that. That is when I got this new option page from Mozilla for the privacy thing. I accepted as i thought it was the "new" way for Mozilla since I have been with Mozilla for years. I thought it was going to just put a tracker or something on the program. It did delete everything I had saved. I then went back to the other Mozilla icone that I always use and everything is fine. So I want to delete that new privacy icon thing and all it does. However, I right click on the icon and there is no option to remove it, just unpin from task bar. I looked in "programs" but there is nothing there either. I looked on my Mozilla account and there is no mention of it there either.

You can set this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • about:config => browser.privateWindowSeparation.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. On the warning page, you can click "Accept the Risk and Continue" to open about:config.
