Thunderbird 102.5.1 (no Addons installed) MacOS Ventura 13.0.1 Apple MacBookPro 13“ M1 2020

After updating to MacOS Ventura Thunderbird starting slow.

I get this error message:

Component returned failure code: 0x80550013 [nsIMsgPluggableStore.createFolder] 10 Pop3IncomingServer.jsm:135     createDefaultMailboxes resource:///modules/Pop3IncomingServer.jsm:135     _allFoldersWithFlag chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:1436     _allSmartFolders chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:1461     _addSmartFoldersForFlag chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:1495     generateMap chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:2468     _rebuild chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:1895     load chrome://messenger/content/folderPane.js:195     AsyncFunctionNext self-hosted:632

I have only one profile installed, but when I start Thunderbird using the terminal /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin -P

it starts very fast but I get an error

UNSUPPORTED (log once): POSSIBLE ISSUE: unit 1 GLD_TEXTURE_INDEX_2D is unloadable and bound to sampler type (Float) - using zero texture because texture unloadable

One more thing is, that I can't see any images and there is no button any more to allow it for each email separately.

I also tried to reinstall Thunderbird, but even then it starts very slow.

What can I do? Any idea?

Best regards Chris

Does Troubleshoot mode from the Help menu improve matters?

Not at all :( I think the starting process is slowing down because of this error message Component returned failure code: 0x80550013 [nsIMsgPluggableStore.createFolder]

Thanks for the details. The error is noted in two bug reports but slowness is not mentioned as a symptom, so I don't think that is a causal factor.

Exactly how long is startup?

But 0x80550013 [nsIMsgPluggableStore.createFolder] could be causing your message display issues. Does Bug 1801562 describe your problem?- Yellow remote content notification bar sometimes fails to appear although `View message body as > Original HTML` is already set (but clicking that again will make it appear)

My tb has a long starting time after updating to ventura, too. It´s about 30 sec. I tryed deleting all caches and the startup cache debug mode disabled all plugins and deleted all themes deleted all calendars and created a default calendar tb 109 beta looked for the preferences and deleted ligthning prefs disabled looking for proxies and disabled dns over https

now i started tb with the terminal and got a lot of this errors:

2023-01-12 09:17:07.307 thunderbird-bin[14467:896407] Rethrowing (from nts_ValueForProperty:) NSInternalInconsistencyException: Unhandled error (NSCocoaErrorDomain, 134092) occurred during faulting and was thrown: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134092 "(null)" CoreData: error: Unhandled error occurred during faulting: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134092 "(null)" ({ })

Chris, exactly how long is startup?

"If you turn on Google Contact Sync in the central system settings, the whole contact sync service runs amok. And this also causes Thunderbird to stall for minutes on each startup" according to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1396925#answer-1556996

The startup takes about 50 seconds. There is no Google Contact Sync installed.

Chris, did you check the Konsole? Which errors did you get while starting tb?

I get 2 repeating entries while starting tb - about 21 errors/sec:

  • error: Unhandled error occurred during faulting: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134092 "(null)" ({
})
  • Rethrowing (from nts_ValueForProperty:) NSInternalInconsistencyException: Unhandled error (NSCocoaErrorDomain, 134092) occurred during faulting and was thrown: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134092 "(null)"

Also looked for google services. I had google services installed on the machine before upgrading to ventura. So searched for files. There was only one file left: /System/Library/Accounts/UI/GoogleAccountSettings.bundle But it seems that its a file from Ventura. So I tried to make a google account, to start tb and to delete the account again. But there was no change with the starting time.

I'm almost sure that the error message

Component returned failure code: 0x80550013 [nsIMsgPluggableStore.createFolder] 10 Pop3IncomingServer.jsm:135

is not the reason that Thunderbird is starting slow.

If I start Thunderbird using the terminal /Applications/Thunderbird.app/Contents/MacOS/thunderbird-bin -P

the error is still there, but Thunderbird starts within a second.
