Which files/folders in .mozilla could I safely exclude from backups? My goal is to reduce clutter in my backup logs. For example, most of my backup logs are entries of things in "storage" and "weave". If this will regenerate should I have to restore, I would rather exclude it.

This will help you decide on what to keep or exclude. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data

Since you are using Linux, consider using Archive Manager or something similar to create a backup. I have successfully restored and used such an archive.
