How to change the sensitivity of middle mouse button click to scroll?

Hi, Generally I'm checking, if I will manage to migrate from the Vivaldi to Firefox...

But I have the first issue, which is: When I click (not spin!) the middle mouse button on the page to scroll (like it is in Windows), then it has too great sensitivity. It goes like crazy up and down, I didn't see any other browser which implemented it this way. Can this sensitivity be somehow lowered?

I will repeat just in case, I'm not talking about spinning the mouse wheel, but clicking it.

Thanks.

What kinda mouse is this? And did you properly install the mouse software. The Browser uses what the mouse driver gives it to use.

Hahahaha, good joke. On first sight I can tell that Firefox implemented their own middle mouse button functionality based on some javascript (like all those plugins in the store), while ignoring the system settings. In comparison, all other chromium browsers use system settings, which work very well by default. Of course it has completely nothing to do with my mouse :D

Anyway, I will stay with the Vivaldi, Firefox doesn't even have the option to change key shortcuts, so I will not use it. I didn't expect much of this deserted forum anyway lol

Normally the speed for auto-scroll depends on the distance between the auto-scroll icon and the mouse pointer, so try to keep the mouse pointer as close to that icon as possible.

Doesn't auto-scrolling stop if the mouse pointer is on the auto-scroll icon ?

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
