Firefox can't install .zip add-ons even after setting xpinstall.signatures.required to false

I've been trying to install an add-on that is in the .zip format. I set xpinstall.signatures.required to false and restarted the browser, yet Firefox keeps telling me the add-on cannot be installed because it's not verified. Is there a way to change this?

This option works only in dev builds. You can install Nightly to try it out.
