I have Thunderbird running on my Linux (mint). I can use it to access my mail on aol. It works well. I want to add a new email account I have on .gmail The last step wants to access "localhost" But the built in security functions will not allow that, so the addition of that new account fails. What can be done?

That is an error somewhere in setup. Thunderbird never wants to access localhost. However, I am not a guru in that area, but if you post your server settings, it might trigger a response.
