Thunderbird was not responding and tried to reinstall profile. There are many (needed) emails that were saved in folders that are missing from the profile.

Used the export and import functions under tools menu. Possible corruption in sav8ng the profile.

Was that a zipped profile? If so, I suggest you try unzipping it and the manually restoring it. Try these steps:

  1. unzip the profile
  2. exit thunderbird, if running
  3. enter %appdata% into the search box on task bar in windows and press enter
  4. this should take you to the appdata folder
  5. click the thunderbird folder and then the profiles folder
  6. paste your profile into the profiles folder - note the profile name as you will need it later
  7. start thunderbird and click help>troubleshootinginformation
  8. scroll down to "profiles' in left column and click 'about:profiles'
  9. click 'create profile' button in upper left
  10. click next
  11. enter shortname for profile, such as MYPROFILE and then click 'choose' button to locate and select your profile'
  12. click finish and launch the profile
