I can’t complete the steps to change to OAuth for my Hotmail account.

The Microsoft site says to change the Authentication Method on the SMTP Server dialog to OAuth. But the authentication method drop down list doesn't include OAuth. Here are the only options in the list:

  • No authentication
  • Normal password (this is the one I currently use)
  • Encrypted password
  • Kerberos / GSSAPI
  • NTLM

I use Windows 11 and Thunderbird version 128.20esr (64-bit), Windows.

How do I fix this problem?

are you using smtp.office36.com and STARTTLS and port 587?

I was using smtp-mail.outlook.com (have been for decades), with STARTTLS & port 587.

I changed the server to smtp.office36.com, then closed & reopened Thunderbird. The authentication method drop down still doesn’t show OAuth.

Ok, tried smtp.ofice365.com, but the list didn't change (still no OAuth).
