I'm not sure if I'm using the correct Topic for this question. Basically I didn't do a proper backup of my original Thunderbird . My PC crashed and I had to reinstall Thunderbird from scratch. When I had a look at my "backup" all I could find were the MSF Files.

My question is. How do I transfer these MSF files into my new Thunderbird installation?

You don't. .msf files contain only meta information, and they are re-generated automatically in case none exists. Your messages are stored in mbox files. Mbox files don't have a file extension, e.g. like Inbox.
