When I use my navigation toolbar for searching/ entering words in it and clicking 'Enter', the search engine set as www.qip.ru. Please advise how do I get rid of it? And set it to the US based search engine?

Solution:

Write about:config to your navigation toolbar for searching and press agree with the terms.

Then search there for keyword.URL and right click on it and choose set to default.

It should work again!
