Hulu videos won't play
Hulu videos won't play. They put a different video player on and I've done all I can think of to be able to watch videos there.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled flash.. that didn't help.
I've posted there and no replies..
Could firefox be stopping it from working?
Hulu has always worked fine before.
Thanks.

No, Hulu is still using Flash. See: http://www.hulu.com/support http://news.cnet.com/8301-27076_3-20004969-248.html
Maybe an add-on or your firewall is blocking hulu.
Test your Flash player here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ You should see a small box on the right hand side (scroll down a bit) with your version number if the Adobe page can detect the installation.

Hi, Thanks for your reply!
I've tried everything here and nothing worked.
I sure appreciate your writing and hope a fix can be found soon. Not sure if it's firefox, hulu. Hulu has always worked fine as has firefox and the only change is they changed the player. Everything I have is up to date.
I've gone to hulu tech forums and tried all the fixes others have found that worked, but none worked for me.
Thanks very much for all the suggestions and links. I do appreciate your help!

Hulu has NOT changed its player. Hulu still uses Adobe Flash Player. See the first two links in my post.
I am able to play Hulu videos with no problem. It could be a problem with some Firefox add-on or your firewall or other application on your system.
Try this to see of some Firefox add-on or setting could be causing the problem:
You may need to use Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode (click on "Safe Mode" and read) to localize the problem. Firefox Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that disables Extensions and some other features of Firefox. If you are using a theme, switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes before starting Safe Mode. When entering Safe Mode, do not check any items on the entry window, just click "Continue in Safe Mode". Test to see if the problem you are experiencing is corrected.
See: Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems
If the problem does not occur in Safe-mode then disable all of your Extensions and Plug-ins and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You MUST close and restart Firefox after EACH change via File > Restart Firefox (on Mac: Firefox > Quit). You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window.
I have the same problem. When hulu introduced the new player, suddenly I cannot play content. Even in safe mode, with all add-ins disabled, all cookies enabled, the player will not work. Flash and Java are the latest versions. Also, the Adobe flash player settings will not work on the hulu site, but will work elsewhere.
I have not found a solution yet on the hulu site; thought I would also post here. Thanks!
Thanks, cor-el. Hulu seems to be doing a nice job responding to problems with updates from their support team in the discussion thread at : http://www.hulu.com/discussions/1/141393/655236
Also, as of tonight, I again have no problems streaming video on the Hulu site. My previous problem was not a Firefox issue.

Sorry for previous typo.
Had the same problem recently and just found the solution:
Caused by firewall/anti-virus
Go to-->McAfee Security Center--> Internet & network (configure)--> Firewall (advanced)--> Program Permissions--> find on the list: "Plugin Container for Firefox"
If it has "restricted access", this is the problem. Change it to Outbound Only Access or Full Access.
I was having the same problem and had to watch videos on IE. I adjusted the access settings for "Plugin Container for Firefox," and it worked. Thanks!
I've tried all of these suggestions and the Hulu Player still won't work with firefox. I changed the plugin container for Firefox in Nortons to "allow" and have restarted everything several times and still not working. Any suggestions?
