Firefox Crashes SEVERAL TIMES A DAY and doesn't recover all tabs. Locks up frequently. Extremely irritating...

FireFox crashes ALL THE TIME for me. It crashes for me SEVERAL times a day...I want to average it at about 10 times a day.

Yes I have the latest version of it.

My PC specs are 32bit Windows XP Professional, with a Amd QuadCore 2.8GHz and 2gb of ram and 2TB of hard disk space across five hard drives.

Have Malware Bytes Free and ESET Smart Security 4 installed.

What's worse is Firefox doesn't always recover all the open tabs! Sometimes half of them vanish!

And it NEVER saves data that was in input forms!!!! That is EXTREMELY annoying especially if I am in the middle of an email or a lengthy forum post, I have to start over from scratch.

I am SERIOUSLY considering switching over to Chrome or Opera... This is just so ridiculous all these browser crashes... It is just insane and extremely frustrating.

Please get your act together Mozilla.... I can't believe an Open Source community this large can't come up with ways to prevent browser crashes... Google Chrome has features built in to prevent it...just as killing Flash and Shockwave or Java if they cause the browser to lock up. Why the hell doesn't Firefox have this?

PLEASE fix the crashes... I don't want to have to switch browsers but if this keeps getting worse (it seems to get worse with every release/update...) I will have to switch browsers and banish Firefox from my computer forever...

And if anybody has any ideas or fixes, let me know.

Oh, and no I don't have ANY plugins or toolbars installed. Nothing of that sort. Just Firefox with minimal features.

Oh, and I want to add that 70% of the time the Mozilla Crash Reporter DOESN'T WORK... It will just say "An error occurred" or something like that.

That's because Firefox is trash.

I used to tell everybody to use it and refused to use Internet Exploder. I have hung on for years even though it went from the greatest browser to a monstrosity that crashes multiple times an hour, sometimes multiple times a minute But Firefox is now garbage.

Time to move on.

I had the same problem. The solution: New mainboard. ALL mainboards using NVidia chipsets are likely to crash every hour or so because of crappy programmed drivers and hardware that's operating beyond save limits. I had all kinds of problems: USB-devices disconnecting frequently, system refusing to boot every now and then, all browsers crashing and all sorts of other neat problems. I just swapped the mainboard to an AMD-Chipset and now everything works fine. No crashes the last two months. I'm still using the same Windows7 installation, the same firefox and my old profile that previously crashed 10 times a day. I just swapped the mainboard, deinstalled the nvidia drivers, then installed new network and sound-drivers. That's it.

For 3 months now firefox has crashed at least once a day, and now it completely locks up the entire computer! I cant even use task manager to shut down firefox and have to do an improper shutdown which corrupts files and requires a disc check before i can boot up again! This is a joke, it is interfering with my posts on my blog, and so i am dumping this once fine browser in favor of Opera. That's that. The only thing i'll miss is the morning coffee plugin, they really should make that for the good browsers as well.

These useless forums are doing me no good. Ever since your recent spate of version updates ( Mac OS X platform ...10.6.4 ) the crashes have been random and frequent. I updated to the latest 3.5.8 version yesterday, and crashes commenced almost immediately. Please quit having everyone just add to the chorus of comments like this one, and post something clear and concise about the possible reasons for the endless crashes. You should have enough comments by now from the crash reporter incidents we have taken time to fill out. You are about to lose one of your staunchest Firefox / Mozilla fans.
