when double clicked, firefox 3.6.3 setup does not start (subsequent to uninstalling very old release)

I uninstalled a old release of Firefox and rebooted the system theb downloaded 3.6.3 to the desktop and double clicked it. Nothing happens.

I attempted to install the latest version

Try to disable your anti-virus software during the installation to see if that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up using Live Chat and was walked through a workaround to the automated setup.
