Why is Java listed twice in my Extensions list and should I uninstall the older one?

When I look at the list of extensions I see Java Console 6.0.20 and 6.0.21 listed. When I ran my virus scan there were Trojans found associated with Java 6.0 and I am wondering if we all don't need to be uninstalling the old Java's to avoid virus type issues.
