I'm trying to download a newer version of firefox, but I'm told the operation cannot be completed because I don't have sufficient privileges...what does this mean?

I have firefox 3.0.8 and am trying to download to a 3.6 version, but I'm told i don't have sufficient privileges. What does this mean? Can I do anything to fix it?

  • Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded.

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
