Are you using OS X 10.3.9 or earlier?

You will get that error if trying to install Firefox 3.6.13 on OS X 10.39 or earlier. Current versions of Firefox require at least OS X 10.4, and Firefox 4 will require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. The last version of Firefox that runs on OS X 10.3.9 is Firefox 2.0.0.20
