two problems: 1. browser blocked an attempt to log out of application properly advises for me to close browser.(on line bank)

problem 2: Firefox keeps running in back ground even though I have hit the close button. It keeps using my resources and slows my computer down so much I can't stand to use it. I tried shutting down in task manager and restarting but all problems still exist. Would removing plugins help.
