I plan on reformatting my computer but want to save all of the auto-fill screen names and passwords that Firefox has learned.

Are they saved in the profile or a separate file?

I have a Dell computer running Windows XP sp3. I am planning a PC Recovery using the Dell utility. This process re-formats the drive and all files will be lost. I am backing up the files I want to save including the Firefox and Thunderbird profiles.

Thanks,

Is there any harm in simply saving the entire profile and then naming it the same as the new profile and using it to replace the new profile when Firefox is re-installed?

I've done that in the past when moving from one computer to a new one.
