toolbars loose customizations over and over and over. . . . . . .

I have repeatedly started firefox in safe mode to reset toolbars, controls, and extensions. It's getting pretty tedious. I get the interface all set up and then when I have to restart, it's all gone!!!

AIO Toolbar is the most trouble, but now I'm having trouble keeping my icons on the menu bar so I can close all other toolbars.

Also, I use toolbar buttons extension to allow me to put additional icons on the toolbars and it seems to come up with a different set of options everytime I customize the toolbars!

Any insight would be helpful.
