I use Lotus Notes web based email (iNotes) for work. I normally use Firefox as my browser. All versions so far have worked fine. I upgraded to Firefox 4 last night and got a big shock when I went to my iNotes email. Although I could log in just fine, none of my folders (inbox, sent mail, etc.) would show any of my emails. Could this be a different default setting that needs to be changed or is it a "bug?"

IBM started support Firefox 4 from Domino 8.5.2 FP2 + Interim Fix 401.8HF6. In the mean time, you can use this workaround I found on the IBM forum: Download the "Remote XUL Manager" from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/remote-xul-manager/.

Add the domain part/server name to the "whitelist" (Tools menu, "Remote XUL Manager").

I'd recommend inserting both just the server name and the FQDN for that server - especially handy if you use a VPN that enforces NAT rules.

Good luck!

Great tip, thibaudm! I've just tested the Remote XUL Manager Add-on, and it worked. I put my company domain as the exception (as I don't need VPN) and now iNotes seems to be working OK, including file attachments. I'm using iNotes v.8.5.1 and FF v.4.0.

Thanks!

You win an award. Excellent tip. Worked perfectly for me. When Lotus iNotes stopped working in FF4, I started using iNotes in 'Lite' mode and it worked fine (Windows 7, Lotus Domino 8.5.2). The solution you provided fixed the problem completely. The XUL Manager link took 10 seconds to fix this...from the first click on the link you provided, to install, to restart FF, to adding my domain to the manager. Very nice!

A hotfix based on iNotes 8.5.2 Fix Pack 2 is under development to address this issue. The hotfix, which will eliminate iNotes use of remote XUL, will be made available via Fix Central as soon as possible. This technote will be updated during the first week of April with the status of the hotfix. Furthermore, iNotes 8.5.2 Fix Pack 3 will include changes so that remote XUL is no longer used. You can track status at the developerWorks Upcoming Releases page.

I Use IBM Lotus iNotes 8.5.2 Build 401.3. My iNotes also had same problem when I upgrade my FireFox to Version 4.0. The Interface would display the following message on the top of the screen in Red, "A problem has occurred which may have caused the current operation to fail".

I clicked on Preferences, in Basic Settings, under "For all list-type views:", I changed "Show all documents as a scrollable list" to "Show documents one page at a time (faster load time)". Saved and closed and that allowed me to view my Emails one page at a time.

I have successfully inserted the domain name in the XUL white list and now I can see the mails in all views and can perform routine operations on them like Reply, Forward etc. But I have to see the content of the email in the preview pane and UNABLE to open when 'double-clicking' a mail. The console is showing the following error : "06/06/2011 08:30:41AM A problem has occurred which may have caused the current operation to fail. 06/06/2011 08:30:41AM EGF is undefined 06/06/2011 08:30:41AM https://xxx.com/mail/yyy.nsf/iNotes/Proxy/?OpenDocument&Form=l_ScriptFrame&l=en&gz&CR&MX&TS=20110603T194800,44Z&TSX=20110525T194921,22Z&charset=ISO-8859-1&charset=ISO-8859-1&ua=gecko: 10". Can anyone help me in solving this problem please ?
