After I restore bookmarks from a json file and they display correctly in the browser, why the next time I start Firefox4, do the old bookmarks display?

Three times I have restored from a bookmarks json file and each time the bookmark folders display showing the new bookmarks but each time after I exit and restart FF4, the original bookmarks that were replaced by bookmarks from my json file reappear. The restore process seems to work exactly as it should but new bookmarks are apparently not saved since the old ones display each time I restart FF4.

I am using WinXP on an older Dell laptop with 2Gb memory and current FF4 as of April 23, 2011.

I don't know what to do to make the new bookmarks become permanent. Help?

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Thanks. That was the solution I needed. Everything works now.
