droplists on forms don't dropdown
I'm using Firefox 3.6.16 on Mandriva 2010.2 and for the last couple of months the droplists don't dropdown. I figured a patch would be released to fix it or it would be one of my Add-ons causing it. There was an update recently and that didn't fix it. Today I disabled all addons and restarted but still it doesn't allow me to make a choice with the mouse.
There are lots of similar problems with FF4 but none of the solutions appear relevant.
Anyone got any suggestions?
<edit>I've just disabled all the plugins too but still the same. What I've noticed just now is that there appear to be two versions of Flash installed but only the first shows under Tools Add-ons Plugins

There is no need to create a new thread. You can edit your first post and edit the title if you want to change it or I can do it if you post a better title.
Problems with a drop down list not working can be caused by an extension.
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
- Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
- Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Web developers usually use one of two techniques for drop-down menus. The first is pure CSS style rules. The second is JavaScript. Can you test both and see whether the problem is related to scripting or styles?
I just found these in a search and don't have any affiliation/recommendation on them...
Sample pure CSS menu: http://www.justsoftwaresolutions.co.uk/articles/sample_menu.html
Sample JavaScript menu: http://javascript-array.com/scripts/simple_drop_down_menu/
Edit: The third type of menu would be Flash...

Your More system details list show a modified user agent (general.useragent.override). You can try to reset the user agent to the default in case websites have a problem with that UA.
You also have two Flash players installed: a release and a beta (development) version.
- Shockwave Flash 10.2 r152
- Shockwave Flash 10.2 d161
From these answers it appears I have the wrong terminology.
It's a drop list on an html form that is not dropping down so I cannot choose an item with the mouse. I still can with the arrow keys (and keyboard if I know the selections available) For example the one near the top on [http://www.htmlite.com/lite026.php|ht.../lite026.php]
I think maybe I should start a new question with a better name

Default theme anyway.
Started in safe mode, I ticked "Disable Addons" and clicked "Make Changes and Restart" and no difference. Then I started in safe mode again, ticked all except "Delete Bookmarks" and it worked.
